Staff may not register themselves while signed into their work CORE account. To register for Overnight Camp, speak contact Dakota Pitzer (dpitzer@ymca-snoco.org), registrar for Camp Snohomish.

What is expected of Y full-time employees whose families enjoy these free programs?

Staff who enjoy this benefit need to be engaged parents by showing up to practice; showing up to games; be a team parent; and participate in team celebrations; need to participate in feedback with the program director by communicating what is working and what needs work—all of these are all examples of the types of expectations as a model parent of the Y.

Staff who abuse this benefit, such as no-showing to a registered free program without notifying the branch program, can run the risk of losing this benefit.

What happens if a full-time employee signs up a dependent for a program and then the child no-shows to it?

Staff who register for a program and then no-show without notifying the program director, can run the risk of losing this free benefit.

Is it possible that a full-time employee who registers their child/ren for a group program will be denied a spot?

Employees will have a spot on a first come first served basis, just like any other member. If the program is full, then the program is not available for the employee family’s participation.

Are free programs for employees taxable on my paycheck?

Free and discounted programs for employees are tracked as before, which include: Early Childhood Education (ECE), School Age Child Care (SACC) and licensed (Discovery) Day Camp. If/when the total of these free programs reach $5,000, then the additional amount exceeding $5,000 in that month and ongoing, is subject to tax as taxable income on the employee’s paycheck/s and W-2 for that year.

How are employee free programs budgeted?

The “cost” for this benefit will be paid for by the branch in which the employee works. Employee discounts will be allocated to the branch administration GL.

I am a full-time employee and yet do not have dependents at age 0-18 living in my household, who would otherwise be eligible for free programs. Are there any other new benefits that I am eligible?

Yes, the first additional free employee benefit is the addition of the Roth 403(b) option to the Y Retirement Plan. For more information about Roth 403(b) and that option, please go to: https://www.yretirement.org/how-the-fund-works/all-about-roth

Are there any other new employee benefits beginning in 2024?

Yes, another new employee benefit that is beginning for all staff will be in effect on February 1, 2024 as part of our new Employee Wellness Program. Since employee health is vital, with healthy living as one of our core values and knowing that employees’ health is influenced by healthy living and exercise habits, we are implementing a year-round, all-staff wellness benefit for 2024 with bonuses and prizes. Employees who scan in at a branch to work out at an average of 3 or more times per week through a month will be entered to win a raffle drawing for a payroll bonus. Bonuses are subject to any and all applicable state and federal taxes. SLT and ELT are not eligible to win bonuses.

Which program discounts do part-time staff receive?

All staff receive a free Family 2 membership. Part-time staff also receive the following program discounts: ECE at 20% off, School Age Care (SACC) at 20% off, 20% off private and group swim lessons and 20% off all other YMCA programs, including personal training and camps. Any dependent(s) of a part-time staff (who regularly reside in their home) are also eligible for these 20% off discounts.
