Snohomish County YMCA’s required trainings:
As staff with the YMCA of Snohomish County you are required to complete all compliance trainings within the first 30 days of your employment.
If you are a new member of our team, you can find all the information you need by opening the page: ‘First Day’ in the index on the left of the screen.
For our current team members, you can find information on renewing your trainings and certification in the ‘Renew’ page.
Remember that these trainings are required annually so keep track of all logins and passwords you might create!
YUSA Level Certifications:
The YMCA of USA has its own learning platform called the Learning & Career Development Center (LCDC).
To register for a training or certification in the LCDC, you will first need to create an account in LINK. Below if a pdf on how to do that - and we remind you that when you first log into your new account, make sure the first thing you do is click on the button ‘Request LINK Access’.
The LCDC (Learning & Career Development Center) is an older system and can sometimes be a little cumbersome to navigate. Click on this link for a short tutorial on finding and registering for Y-USA classes in the LCDC.
Group Exercise Certifications:
All group exercise instructors, including those who teach aquatics classes, are required to have all compliance trainings and YMCA of USA’s Foundations of Group Exercise v2.
You might also have a national level certification such as ACE’s Group Fitness, though it is not required.
Below is a pdf with a full and complete list of equivalency certifications, and information on how to upload your certifications to the LCDC. There are also trainings that are required by YUSA that need to be completed before you can upload your national cert to the LCDC, and they are also listed in this document.
After some time you will need to re-certify your Group Exercise certification. You will need Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s) in order to do this. Below is a booklet outlining the process and explaining how you can complete required CEC’s within the LCDC system.
Weight Room Staff Certifications:
Along with all compliance trainings, weight room staff are required to have a current YMCA of USA’s Foundations of Strength and Conditioning certification.
Personal Trainer Certifications:
Personal Trainers are required to have a current YMCA of USA’s Foundations of Strength and Conditioning certification, AND a Y-USA recognized, national certification such as ACE’s Personal trainer or NASM’s Certified Personal Trainer.
