Recertification Process

Recertifying Your Lifeguard Certification

To recertify your lifeguard certification, you must complete a recertification course. The course will review important skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective lifeguard. You will also be required to demonstrate your physical fitness and ability to perform rescues in various scenarios.

It is recommended that you complete your recertification course before your current certification expires. This will ensure that you remain certified and are able to continue lifeguarding without interruption.

Once you have successfully completed the recertification course, your certification will be renewed and valid for 2 years. You will receive a new certification card indicating the date of your renewed certification. It is important to recertify your certification regularly to ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest techniques and protocols for lifeguarding.

In order to register for a recertification class you must have a current:

  • HSI Basic Life Support
  • HSI Basic First Aid
  • HSI Emergency use of Medical Oxygen

You receive these certifications through our HSI Training, your current certifications must be uploaded to the LCDC prior to registering for the recertification course.
